Great Start to League for Minor Ladies

The Minor Ladies had a great start to league by overcoming Moy Davitts yesterday evening on a scoreline of 3.11 to 4.5.  The Charlestown girls were slow to start with Moy Davitts getting 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes followed by a point. Charlestown fought back with Carrie Loftus converting 3 free kicks and converting a well deserved goal after having 2 disallowed with the ref having blown the whistle for a foul just as the ball was kicked.

The wet conditions suited the Charlestown girls as Jennifer O Donnell and and her half back line with tremendous pressure forced Moy Davitts into some silly decision making and poor passes. There to mop up the loose ball were Elaine O Donnell and Caoimhe Halligan.  Points were popped over by Hannah Burke, Anna Mchale and a Super conversion by Lauren O Donnell way out on the wing secured a 3 point lead at half time.

Moy Davitts were ready to battle with another goal hitting the back of the net minutes into the second half, followed by a quick point. However Charlestown held there composure and worked the ball up the field swiftly for another sweet goal from Carrie Loftus.  It was point for point with the Charlestown full back line Micheala McIntyre Elisha Duffy and Leasha Mchale piling the pressure on which resulted in an excellent save by  goalkeeper Ailbhe O Connor.

Charlestown maintained possession for the closing 10 minutes of the game with Maria Harrington making quick runs up the wing allowing scores from Kellee Crean and Laura Duffy.  Racheal Ruane who covered every inch of the field finished in style with a dinger of a point just inside the 45 to secure the win.
