On a wet and blustery day in Breaffy, our U-15 boys left everything on the field after a pulsating final that left them all square against an equally strong Carras side.
Carras started the stronger keeping the sarsfields men to one point in the first 20 minutes of the first half. Two quick fire goals had the Charlestown lads back to within a point with the second goal coming on the stroke of half-time.
Ciaran Honeyman entered the fray at half-time and this would prove telling as the game progressed.
Carras came out the blocks quickest again after the restart with a goal of their own, but Charlestown kept coming back at them.
With time nearly up and the ‘Town leading by 2 points, Carras hit two goals to leave our boys adrift by 4 points with 2 mins remaining.
Charlestown won the ball from the kickout and played it in to the outstanding Ciaran Honeyman, who powered into the penalty area and thundered a left foot shot in the carras net.
Charlestown won the kickout and a resulting free allowed Charlestown to gain parity.
Extra time produced just as many thrills as the previous hour but in the end the two two teams could not be seperated.
As always there was great support on the sideline and no one left thinking the lads could have given any more to the cause.
