Well folks, as the festive season approaches….so does our festive trip to Fr O’Hara Park for the Annual Michael Byrnes Charity Matches which again take place on St. Stephen’s Day.

Our ladies will be kicking off the action at 11:30 when the current crop of talent will be squaring off against some club legends in what will be a hotly contested clash if last years renewal is anything to go by! Helmets at the ready for this one! 🙂

The main event at 12:00 will see our current Senior Men’s squad try to atone for “another” defeat last year to the clubs (as some refer to them) “Golden Oldies”..! I wouldn’t dare, Ginger hates that title!!!

With 2 All Ireland Masters medals within the ranks of our Legends squad this year, surely they again justify the favourites tag. And to add weight to this theory, rumours are rife that the likes of Seamus ‘Cossie’ Gallagher and Padraic ‘Podsie’ Horkan have both been spotted training hard on the astro, are comebacks a realistic possibility?? Underfoot conditions wont suit either player but watch this space!

Will the young pretenders be finally able to record a victory? Time will tell. One thing for sure is, the Michael Byrnes Cup is going to be as fiercely contested as ever!

Sandwiches, soup, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and the likes will be provided after the game for all of you who come to support, with again, all proceeds go to Enable Ireland.
