Well folks, its that time of the year again, when rivalries are renewed in Fr. O’Hara Park as the Michael Byrne’s Memorial Cup is again up for grabs, as are the bragging rights that go with it!
Its hard to believe, but for the tenth year in succession our over 30’s are looking to maintain their stronghold over the under 30’s, who unfortunately from their point of view, always seem to just come up short! Then again, class is permanent as the old saying goes!
Saying that, we all expect an extremely tight renewal this year, with both squads rumoured to have invested heavily in the transfer market over the last 12 months, and if one was to listen to local media sources, well all sorts of comebacks are in the pipeline! Watch this space.
On a serious note, this year all monies raised on the day will be donated to the Homeless charities, which our GAA counterparts have been advocating for over the last few weeks, namely www.gaelicvoicesforchange.com which is a new volunteer run social action movement of current and former inter-county GAA players, both men and women, from the 32 counties of Ireland.
Please be sure come and support on the day, it really is a morning of fun and craic and not to be missed!
And of course, this is open invite in terms of playing personnel, so if the boots still fit, well bring them you may just get the start! 🙂 Throw in at 11:30am sharp, see you all in Fr. O’Hara!
