Well done to the Charlestown Sarsfields minor team who captured the division 3 county minor league title with a decisive victory over St Brigids in the final played in Castlebar recently.
The Sarsfields were much the better side with the scoreline of 6-13 to 3-4 in their favour a fair reflection overall of their dominance as they exuded control throughout.
Hannah Morrisroe and Laoise Harkin provided the Sarsfields with a great platform in the middle of the park as they were dominant throughout with their skill and pace at the heart of many of the green and white`s most impressive scores.
Katie Gavin was also very instrumental in many of the Sarsfields best moves as she motored up and down the pitch from her wing back station and was perpetual motion from start to finish. Hannah Morrisroe, Leah O`Grady and Leanne Duffy were very influential when it came to scoring with Shona Mahon also excelling as she bagged three super goals all of which were expertly taken and executed.
The defence was no less impressive with the likes of Mary -Kate Casey and Katie O`Donoghue defending with courage and intelligence at all times as they defused many a dangerous attack with vigilance and cleverness.
Captain Sophie Johnson was a rock between the posts, pulling off some good saves and providing safe pair of hands throughout.
The Sarsfields ladies are worthy champions as they applied themselves really well to the task at hand and were much the superior team in terms of fitness, skill and hunger for the victory.
Well done to the management team of Caoimhe Halligan and Jennifer O`Donnell who got a great tune out of the girls and had them primed for the battle with their athleticism, pace and speed over the ground among the most impressive facets of a very well rounded and memorable display. The team and panel was as follows : Sophie Johnson (capt), Katie O`Donoue, Ailbhe O`Connor, Mary Kate-Casey, Katie Gavin, Eva Walsh,Sarah McEntire, Hannah Morrisroe, Laoise Harkin, Erica O`Connor, Leanne Duffy, Ella Durkin, Leah O`Grady, Shona Mahon, Amy Mahon, Caitlin Kelly, Zoe Buckley, Kevina Walsh and Leah McDonnell.
