Commenting on the launch of the event Liam Breheny, Chairman, Charlestown Sarsfields GAA Club said ‘We’re delighted to launch the inaugural Colm Horkan Memorial Golf Classic. It’s an event to be enjoyed throughout the month of September for both the casual and serious golfer with a chance to win some fantastic prizes. All funds raised from the event will bring us closer to realising the vision for the Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch & Community Walkways Project. We have been blown away by the goodwill shown and the offers of support from people, both locally, nationally and from the diaspora around the world for this project which has been heart warming and the development of the new pitch and community walkways in his honour will be a fitting legacy for the great man and a facility for the community to enjoy for generations to come – something I know he would be immensely proud of’.
