Charlestown’s great 2001 breakthrough features in new Mayo GAA book

The new book ‘Our Finest Hour – Mayo GAA clubs reflect on their glory days’ has been a big success since its launch a few weeks ago. It features iconic moments and insights from 54 clubs in Mayo.
The club’s first senior championship title in 99 years, their 2001 triumph, is the focus of the Charlestown chapter. Team manager Stephen Healy, captain David ‘Ginger’ Tiernan and players John Casey, Aidan Higgins and Podsie Horkan reflect on one of the great breakthroughs of modern Mayo club football. They tell some hilarious stories of great times and recall absent friends.
‘It was a journey I never wanted to end. I just wanted to wallow in it forever,’ recalls John Casey
Written by experienced GAA journalist Edwin McGreal, Our Finest Hour is a must-read for anyone with a grá for Mayo.
