After a slow opening 10 minutes and finding themselves 2 points behind Charlestown really took over the rest of the opening half. Ryan Duffy had them back on level terms with 2 long distance scores. David McLoughlin & Aidan Hopkins were now starting to dominate their men & with this a Thomas Holton free, Ryan Duffy & Cian Craig points extended their lead.
The 1st goal of the game came when John Drudy expertly blocked a defensive clearance which fell to that man Duffy again & he made no mistake firing pass the Knockmore goal keeper. Now in total control of the game Craig & Holton added further points to leave a scoreline of 1-7 to 2 point at half time.
Knockmore opened the scoring in 2nd half after going at least 20 mins without a score but Charlestown were soon to response with points for Duffy and Cian McCudden. Knockmore were giving a life line when referee Michael Daly awarded a penalty after Kenneth Brennan was adjudged to have fouled the knockmore attacker. The penalty was cooled dispatched and the margin was reduced to 6. Knockmore added a further point before that man Duffy was on the score sheet again.
The game was finally put to bed when John Drudy reacted quickest to a breaking ball & fisted in to an open goal. Knockmore got the 2 last scores of game but this was of little consolation to them in a game Charlestown controlled. Charlestown will have to wait on other results to see if they make the semi finals.
