Tough to take much from this game for either team. Was over as a contest by half time. Charlestown will be satisfied with how clinical they were when going for goal, finishing with 7 high quality goals in the end.
Charlestown will also be happy to get so many players game time, emptying the bench once again. They will probably be a little unhappy with their sloppiness when going for points – with a large number of wides, a common theme this season. The root cause of those being players shooting from outside their range or shooting from low-percentage angles. It’s something they will really need to get a handle on very quickly as we reach the business end of the year. Something else to look at might be discipline with another needless yellow card doled out, that’s 2 yellows and 1 red in 2 games, a worrying deterioration in team discipline.
The Charlestown defence was again in superb form, conceding only 2 points and deserving of special praise.
Player Of The Match: Shona Mahon
Mahon really adds an extra dimension to the Charlestown attack when she plays. Her speed and eye for goal are both lethal and were used to full effect in the first half today. A great headache for the management is who to play in the full forward line once everyone is available. Would be hard to leave out Mahon after a performance like this one though.
