Tough defeat after a really bright start.
Were 0-5 to 0-1 up after mid way through the first half and looked to be cruising. Around this point, however, Charlestown seemed to lose composure after a slick Rovers goal. They then lost their shape, possibly not helped by some sudden tactical changes and most importantly missing several of their regular key starters. By half time Charlestown were behind and never regained the lead, even with a strong breeze behind them in the second half.
They did fight back bravely in the second half and managed to get it back level at one point, before a late sucker punch; with Charlestown in possession in the middle of the field, a simple free was misplaced and gifted to Rovers who went straight down the field and scored a goal, the last score of the game. Worse still for Charlestown is due to Davitts conceding the first game, Charlestown are now at a point scored disadvantage should they manage to win their last game, they will need to win big.
On the up side, due to having so many players missing, a lot of the younger players got a taste of action, and can see the level they will need to get to in order to break into the first team with more regularity.
