U14 Girls win League Title
Charlestown were in control from the off here at Swinford’s community pitch.
The Charlestown forwards gained the upper hand with two unanswered goals and the energetic running of Elisha Harkin and LeaAnne Duffy were causing Rovers all sorts of trouble.
Sophie Johnston was in inspired form in the Charlestown goal making a double point blank save towards the end of the first half, but had been beaten just prior by a dipping shot that squeezed in between her fingers and the crossbar.
Charlestown also hit the uprights on 4 occasions in that first half and with all their possesion should probably have had more to show than the half time score of 3-6 to Rovers 2-2. The sarsfield ladies turned on the style in the second half with Shona Mahon opening the scoring with two fine points.
Niamh Gallagher hit the post again before Elisha Harkin goaled from distance with a shot out of reach of the Rovers keeper.
Molly Beirne pointed, followed swiftly by an Emily Quinn point.
Charlestown ran on their bench giving their younger girls a taste of success.
